Preparation for licensure as a professional, Cosmetologist

GRADUATION REQUIRMENTS
Completion of the required program hours.
Passing grade in college final practical and written exams.
All theory tests and workbook must be completed before final exam.
Tuition and all other charges, if any, must be paid in full.
Diploma awarded upon graduation.

COSMETLOGY
Text books include: Milady’s standard text & workbook
NM Barbers and Cosmetology Rules and Regulations and  The College Catalog
The program includes lectures, demonstrations, and “hands on” instruction. All three types of instruction input (visual, oral, and physical) are used throughout the program. The students are continually encouraged to prepare the physical skills they are instructed in, and to apply the theoretical knowledge they learn to solve problems presented by the clients in the College Clinic. Examples of employment opportunities are: cosmetician, platform artist, salon manager, salon owner, manufacturer’s representative, or traveling stylist.

ESTHETICIAN

Workbook for Professional Estheticians, State Board Regulations and Statutes, and State Board Review Book

MANICURIST/PEDICURIST
Manicuring is the artful care of the hands and nails. Pedicure is the care of the feet and toenails. The Manicurist/Pedicurist program is devoted to acquiring the knowledge needed to impart the artful care of hands, feet, nails and toenails.
Textbooks include: The Art and Science of Manicuring Textbook and Workbook, State Board Exam Review Book, New Mexico Board Rules and Regulations

INSTRUCTOR’S COURSE DESCRIPTION
PREREQUISITE REQUIRED.
To be an Instructor means to share, dispense and divulge knowledge and/or skills. The Program is devoted to acquiring to teaching skills needed so that an experienced Cosmetologist can more readily share, dispense, and divulge their knowledge and skills in a logical and organized manner to students just entering the career field. The total program is 1,000 clock hours in length.

ESTHETICIAN/MANICURIST                
Textbooks included.                        
The objective of this program is as follows:  At the end of the program, and before a certificate is issued, the student will be able to successfully pass the college’s final written examination with at least a 75% score and to demonstrate entry level job skills by passing  the college’s final practical examinations, which involve testing in all units of the course. Tuition and all other charges, circumstances which are justified. Evening students are scheduled 20 hours per week or 80 hours per month.
